Britain's former Raj reign
made a deep impact on in India. Otherwise, it laid the
foundation of a very prominent summer capital.
It is called Simla, and it rests above the peaks
of the majestic middle Himalayas in northern India. The
city lies in the state of Himachal Pradesh.
Here the climate is temperate, bringing snow
on winters.
As such, Simla is a very popular hill station
of India, where tourists flock during summers to elude
the heat of the plains. In fact, ice-skating is a popular
sport among residents during winters.
The ridge and the adjacent Mall define the heart
of the city. Pedestrians swarm the Mall, as this is the
community's main shopping area. |
